Gods & Goddesses

Who are your patrons? What is the story behind them? Why did you choose them? Greek, Egyptian, Celtic, Norse pantheons, ect?

I haven't found my patron God or Goddess, but for the Goddess, I'm really going for Nyx. I want my God to personified the day and sun and for he Goddess to personified the night and moon.

I know we already talked about this, but I am choosing Nyx as my Goddess, and probably Apollo as my God. Like you, Jeremy, I want a Goddess for night and a God for day. Since I love the night and I feel seriously close to Nyx and she personifies night, I am choosing her. I always liked Apollo, and since he is God of the sun, he is great for what I am looking for. I am not 100% sure about Apollo, but I will most likely choose this God.

if you want to choose a patron, then focus on what you like. I chose Nyx because she is Night personified, and I love the night and feel more comfortable in it than the day. I chose Apollo (maybe, still deciding) because he is God of the Sun and the opposite of Nyx. chose one that feels right to you. Another example, I almost chose Hecate because I love how she is a Goddess of a few things, one of them being witches. I almost chose Artemis/Diana because I love the moon and beauty, and she is the Goddess of the moon-but I did not chose Diana for this reason: she is also the Goddess of the hunt, and I am a vegetarian. I did not chose Hecate for the reason that she is also the Goddess of the underworld and my soul comes from heaven (my soul is an angel come to Earth to help people, long story lol). hope this helped you to figure out which God and Goddess you want to chose!

k im thinking Rhiannon because i love the night and the moon and i also like the Celtic gods and goddesses, but im not sure which god i want... hmm maybe Odin, although he is Norse...

Just chose a God and Goddess that feels right to you, ones you connect with.

i do not have a patron god. my coven worships three goddess that personify the triple goddess, Artemis (maiden) Demeter (mother) and Hekate (crone). at first i was going to go with the celtic goddesses but then i thought about it more and i was pulled more towards the greek ones. At first i chose hekate because I loved that she was goddess of so many things such as crossroads, the underworld, magick, and in the really ancient myths she watched over women during childbirth. I loved that she was a goddess of the underworld because even though i am a white witch i have a connection to the darkness that i will never be able to get rid off. my coven sisters and i decided that for the coven we would have 3 patron goddesses since Hekate doesnt have a consort.

Well I haven't choose mine yet.... For my goddess I really want Artemis, but the more I learn about her the more I still want her but the same ammount is towards not wanting her? And I don't know what to do... I also was kinda thinking about Athena... But I still need to learn ALOT more about her.... I also haven't given really any thought to a god.. Also for the goddesses I was also kinda thinking Gaia and Nyx because one is night and I love the night and Gaia being earth I love that because I love the earth.... I still gotta choose though ):

hmm im not sure who i should choose for my god, Odin or Zeus? But as for my goddess i am thinking Nyx (sorry to be a copycat! )

lol about the smilie thing I mean... yeah... Well I'm still not exactly sure as to who I should choose... Does anyone have any pointers?

well for pointers, like I said before, just choose a God and Goddess that you feel drawn to, ones that have a connection with you. I chose Nyx because I feel truly like her daughter. I feel strongly connected to her. I am not sure about a God because I haven't looked into it yet. When you find the right patron you will feel connected to them right away. I hoped this helped!

Here is a list that I am looking at of different major gods and goddesses from around the world. It gives brief information on them but may help you get a sort of direction.

As for me I think I may end up in the greek pantheon because I've always loved greek mythology, but recently I've had thoughts of Egypt. I think the Egyptian heat and their worship of cats may be drawing me I don't know very much at all about the Egyptian pantheon yet tho.

oh, I love the Greek Gods and Goddesses, ever since I was little I was drawn to the Greek ones. I like Isis and Osiris too, but those are really the only Egyptian ones I know.

I like Isis to and that probably it.... Ive felt close to the greek gods and goddesses since I started learning about them when I was inI think 5th grade? Any I really want to learn more about the Celtic gods and goddesses because I feel that I would probably feel connected to them as well.

Obsidian if you look into the Celtic goddesses look up Bridget. From talks ive had with you she seems like she might be a good one. She was gonna be my patron but then i felt more connected to Hekate.

ok i think i have finally decided. i want Nyx for my goddess and Zeus for my god <-- k that is sooo cute :D

or not... i know i want Nyx for my goddess, but i just found out that, in roman mythology, they split Zeus up into two gods, Jupiter being the god of the day thunder and Summanus being the god of the night thunder. I love thunderstorms for some odd reason, and its even better when they are in the night, so i think im going to have to go with Summanus.
