Siblings

Does anyone have siblings that know your a witch?
My brother knows that I am, and it's pretty cool. He's gone to a few circles, and was around when I did my other 'witchy stuff'(so he says). I talked to him about it when we were closer, and how he felt about it. He gave me the honest truth that he didn't understand it, and it scared him because of some of the things I could do(Seriously don't play with weather magick unless you know what your doing. Tornados happen that way. O.o)
So it's pretty cool that he knows. It's not so cool that he has no interest to learn. I could easily diffuse those fears, but he has no desire for me to do so.
Anyone else find themselves in situations like that?

I have a brother (12) and a sister (16).
They both know I'm a witch. My brother doesn't seem to care about it at all. My sister has always been interested in this sort of stuff but she lacks the commitment and she knows that so she just likes to learn about it even if she doesn't practice. She With your brother it's best to let him do his own thing since he doesn't have an interest in it at the moment. You never know what will happen.

Yeah, I'm not really pushing it on him.

my brother(well my whole family, I don't like hiding things) know I am a witch. He doesn't like that I renounced Judaism, so like my dad, he makes jokes. Like when I do my rituals, he jokes that I am going to knock the house (don't get so pissed off that you actually do shake the house during a ritual). He doesn't like talking about it, so I am trying to teach him things without him knowing. He is not interested in becoming Wiccan, but I think if he understands it, he won't make jokes anymore. My brother has considered watching a ritual, but it may take a while for him to want to. My brother doesn't know anything about me(as in my soul being an angel and about my past lives), and I know he will only think I am making it up. I just wish he and my dad were more understanding like my mom(she loves that I am a witch/Wiccan, she thinks its so cool).

Well, if your brother ever does want to watch you do a ritual, invite him inside the circle. Make sure you tell him nothing evil or bad will happen. I've found that circles feel safe and loving. It might help him understand.
Eh, dad's will be dad's. It sounds like he's pretty set in his ways. But I wish you luck with getting him to stop cracking jokes, it's a good goal to have.
That's awesome that your mom is so approving. Has she ever witnessed any of your magick?

Well I hope some day my dad and brother will understand Wicca, and I hope it is soon. And yeah I like how my mom feels about it. She has watched one of my rituals, she wasn't in the circle, and that was because I didn't want her to be. I want to wait until I have more experience, I already messed up once and hurt myself, so I don't want to take that risk with my mom. I would probably wait at least a year, after I have done something with all the Sabbats and have become comfortable with what I am doing.

Thanks! And it only happened because I got so mad at something my brother and dad said, it raised so much energy it hurt. Because all the energy was in the circle it felt like I was being choked. And my brother said he would stop making jokes (I made him think how it would feel if I made jokes about Judaism). And I hope that it does get better.

i would tell my brother, but he is such an airhead! he wouldnt care in the least bit. all he does is hang out in the basement, so i never get to talk to him. even if he did make jokes, id rather have a brother who i could talk to!

Me too. But I've found that sometimes it's better to not have a family at all.

I wish I didn't tell my dad and brother. You don't want the jokes, trust me. It ruined my relationship with my dad because he couldn't respect me enough to stop the jokes. I would rather only my mom and very close friends now, and I wish I knew that before everyone I know found out. Sometimes not knowing is better than knowing, and I am an example of it. Telling family should bring them closer, but it is driving mine apart

im so sorry you have to deal with that i do have a few friends who make jokes, but at least its not my family! i hope they start to understand...

my brother stopped the jokes, so that got better. my dad won't listen, I try to talk to him but he blows up and blames everything on me for being "oversensitive" but I get offended by what he says. I hope your brother gets better, mine did, I mean he doesn't want to learn but he stopped the jokes when he realized how much it hurt. my dad isn't the same, and he isn't empathetic (being an empath makes it hard for me to understand why he just doesn't get it). I am just glad I have my mom who truly loves that I am Wiccan, honestly she loves going shopping with me when I buy incense and herbs and such.

i wish my parents would let me get herbs, but my mom is all worried that i want to grow marijuana...

maybe if you say they should go with you, they will see the herbs you are getting. and if you grow them, they can keep an eye on it to make sure its not drugs. there are ways to keep them from thinking it's drugs.

Wow.... Well I can't tell my family I recently found that out when my brother blew up at me ): And my sister well shes her kinda not saying anything about it... avoiding it.... I know if I were to ever tell anyone else in my family it would be all over ): I mean maybe my aunt would kinda understand? I dunno.... But it does suck....

it might suck hiding it, but it is better than having it ruin your relationship with them

Sometimes it's better to hide. Just until you get into a better situation to tell them.

My big sis knows nd my lil sis wants to learn about wicca but shes too young mentally to understand it. other than that no one really knows (out of my siblings) my aunt knows cuz shes in my coven nd my mom knows (tho she doesnt like it she lets me be) i can not tell my father's side of my family cuz they would disown me.

How old is your sister?

physically shes 13 but mentally shes 8. she has a few mental problems that take down her mentality
